Modded my Hori Fighting Stick 3

Took me 4 hours total to mod everything, changing all the buttons to Seimitsu Buttons, Installing the octogonal gate, and applying the artwork. My noob arcade stick is now a good arcade level stick! :D

Original:

Parts used:
- 1 x Sanwa GT-Y Octogonal Gate
- 1 x Seimitsu LB-39 Ball Top
- 8 x Seimitsu PS-14-KN Pushbutton
- 2m red and black cables (total 4m)
- 16 x 2.8mm quick disconnects

Tools used:
- Dremel
- Solder, Solder sucker and soldering iron
- Screwdrivers, Cutter, pliers

I haven’t put pictures in the buttons, I’m going to put it in when I replace the current artwork with new one :D

[Update]

Changed the artwork, and put pictures in the buttons. Took me 2 hours since I have to measure everything for the button pictures, next time I may just skip the buttons :p

[Update]

I received some questions about what paper for the artwork and did I laminate the paper or not, so to answer the question: I printed the artwork on a normal glossy photo paper with my printer, and I didn’t laminate the artwork, I used a Adhesive Arclyric clear book cover (which is a lot cheaper than laminating the artwork). Also I used a glue stick to attach the artwork.

You can find good tutorial on how to mod the stick here

That looks really badass. I like the artwork in the first one better, but I guess it doesn’t quite fit with the stick right in her grill. The face button art was a nice touch though.

Awesome, I need to get a Arcade Stick sometime soon, playing SF4 on PS3 controller is starting to getting on my nerves.

That’s funny ’cause I’ve just put away my Hori Real Arcade Pro in order to protect it from dust: I did not have so much time to play lately.
Anyway congrats for your stick. The result is really nice. Maybe one day we’ll be able to play online together SFIV ;)

Now that’s a sexy Fighting Stick worth rambling about. ;)
I think it’s about time I invest in one as playing SF4 on the controller does has it’s limits. -_-

That seems like an awesome mod. I guess I just need my hands on the same stick too! =)

@Jintoo: yeah, let’s play online :D (but anyone outside Australia = lag for me ><)

@Blowfish: Tutorials of course, shoryuken forum has good tutorials on modding HFS3.

That’s an awesome looking mod! :D

Glue stick works for that? My glue stick can barely even hold regular paper together.

P.S. Oh, I have a blog now! :D

@coco: yeah glue stick, wasn’t sure initially but after 1st try, it looked okay ^^; grats for opening the blog :) put you on my roll :D

Pretty sweet. Didn’t think it would be so simple lol.

Really nice!!!!!!
I’m going to try to customize one once I get the parts…and learn how to make one…

Okay I checked the Forum and its pretty useful so far.
Got some questions though:
I need a Stick for my Wii and the Virtual Console.
The Hori Wii stick should be basically the same as yours and that ones called Hori Fight Stick 3 correct?

Id order it soon from PlayAsia and I guess id first try out the regular Stick hardware.I guess first thing to mod would be the Image and Stick /Buttons later on..

Would you mind if i get back on you later when i have my stuff?

@Blowfish: yeah hori stick is the same with HFS3. You can ask me question if you have difficulty modding it :)

I like the second one a lot because it has livelier colors compared to the previous which looks like as if its going to fade already. Nice work! :)

really nice mod, I probably need to get myself one of this arcade stick when the PC version of Street Fighter is release.

valhos last blog post.. What’s in the bag?

Hey, I’m about to mod my FS3 as well, and I was wondering about getting Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbuttons, but reading the guide on Shroyuken.com made me worry, how did you get them to fit? My email is lvn31188@vt.edu

@Long: you need to dremel the inside (the black plastic) to make the buttons fit.
