‹ Game Preview: Tears to Tiara ~ PS3 •

Just heard this game today from kotaku and ps3forums. Cross Edge (or X Edge), This JRPG is collaboration between Capcom, Nippon Ichi, Bandai Namco, Idea Factory, Gust and Compile Heart. Compile Heart is the lead developer for this project, so I hope this game should be as good as my favorite game Agarest Senki.
This game Japan release is scheduled for September 08, and I’m sure there won’t be English release for this game =\

It gets bonus points for having Etna, but can an RPG with such an evident mishmash of characters have much of a coherent story? Sticking Darkstalkers characters in there also fills me with foreboding… sounds like merchandising rather than a proper JRPG. Better prospects with the new FF and the inevitable PS3 release of Tales of Vesperia, I think.

Easy money for all the companies in this collaboration. Gamers just seem to love it when franchises cross paths. It shows promise, but at the same time so many things can go wrong too. There have been several successful cross-series games in the past with a few flops here and there. Let’s hope this is one of the successful ones.

Most likely there won’t be an English version because of the licensing issues, all companies would want a “piece of the cake”, I don’t understand why must we all be dependent on “american” companies to translate games from Japan, why can’t other countries do the same?!

@Artefact & Yamcha: true, but compile heart is actually a decent developer, we’ll see what happen
@belela-san: because they need resource to localize game. Other than the licensing the other big issue bringing Japanese game is the dubbing process… which is expensive (that’s why game like this, which is a niche market outside japan, won’t get english localization..).
I prefer Japanese voice with english sub tho, but most gamer don’t… (I’m sure all JRPG lover prefer Japanese voice

Now, that is a J-RPG I would love to play. It’s too bad that it probably won’t make it to North America… Same thing happened with Namco X Capcom, unfortunately…
