My first time doing photoshoot on gachapon, this one is my favorit gachapon set, FA4 Type-Moon made by Alter. There are 6 characters, 2 from Fate/Stay Night, 3 from Lunar Legend Tsukihime and the last one is from Kara no Kyoukai.
These gachapons are quite big, I think their size is around 1/12. The sculpting and painting for this gachapon are amazing, almost like expensive figurines!
Fate/Stay Night
Saber and Rin from Fate/Stay Night (or Hollow Ataraxia? doesn’t matter :p), both are nice, but abit plain compared to the others. but these 2 come with bonus feature, removable skirt ^^;
Saber
One of the best saber gachapon! enough said :p
Tohsaka Rin
Rin is too plain >< the only plus is that she is the only one in this set with clearly visible pantsu ^^;
Lunar Legend Tsukihime
Only one word to describe those 3… amazing! Arcueid, Ciel and Aozaki they are all superb! there’s no tsukihime figurine come close to the coolness of these 3 gachapons.
Arcueid Brunestud
Arcueid base is quite cool, snakes and splash of blood. One of my favorite gachapon.
Ciel
I like this gachapon the most… number 1 favorite! the pose is good, the details are perfect, and she is exactly the same with the game image. even the will be released ciel is not as good as this :p
Aozaki Aoko
She is also a bit plain… but anyway, I still like this one more compared to Rin :p
Kara no Kyoukai
Ryougi Shiki
Only one gachapon from this series, Ryougi Shiki. I’m sure most of you (and me!) never heard of Kara no Kyoukai ^^; it’s actually a light novel made by Type-Moon and there’s a movie scheduled to be released around Nov/Dec 2007.

Never thought gashapon looked so good, great pics

These look pretty good for what they are. The only trading type figures I have are the Last Exile ones and the old Gunslinger Girl set. I have a feeling a trading figure addiction would take up more space than a standard 1/8-1/6 scale addiction.

Nice photos! This set is really pretty nice and is my only trading figure set I have
Great cast of characters, nice detail, and not-too-small size, can’t really ask for more! And Rin with her red coat as well! ^^

i been trying to find that Saber for the longest time, but most will only sell it as a set, but i only want Saber. a really nice set of trading figures

I try not to collect trading figures anymore since they take up too much space in my cabinet. Though I have the ARIA ones on order simply because I can’t resist getting ARIA merchandise.

I don’t have a lot of trading figures, but these look to be a high quality! Or maybe it’s just the nice pictures
I didn’t realize they where so expensive by the box ~ although I guess you do get 8 figures to play with.

These trading figures look really good but I like the FA4 Fate hollow/ataraxia trading figures the most.

@valho, the saber in this gachapon set is beautiful, Alter should make 1/6 of that model “>”<
yah this gachapon set is really good, albeit a lil more expensive than normal gachapons, you are paying for quality ^^;
but yah, gahcapons tend to eat spaces.. I don’t put my gachapons inside detolf, I put them everywhere like infront of TV, computer, and I put some in my office desk :p

Ah, one of my friends got this set, it really does look great for a gachapon series.
Love the first photo, but they’re not all in focous, which i understand is hard to do ^^;

@Aya: I love the first photo the most ^^. I took like 8/9 shots but only picked those 2. It’s impossible to have them all in focus >”< when I put focus on Ciel, Rin will get unfocused.. (vice versa). There seems only one solution to put them all in focus, shoot the photo from some distance (like 1-2 meter) and then crop the picture.., tried this one, but the result wasn’t as good as I expected, there were some lighting issues

Saber’s face quality rivals the swimsuit ice shaver one.
regarding focusing gashapon, you could take 2 pictures, one with the back in foxus and the other with the front in focus, then photoshop them together, without moving the camera, i think it’s commonly used when photographing small figures in real life backgrounds, works wonders.
i stopped collecting gashapons and moved onto larger figures, because they take up too little vertical space and too much horizontal space, that and they are usually impossible to display cos they fall… alot.
@Adun, isn’t that the case for everyone… “I can’t resist getting merchandise of so and so” and thus the buying. some people just have a larger range of ’so and so’

hmm doing 2 different focus without moving camera very hard without manual focus >”<, my camera is a non DSLR camera and only has auto focus
but that’s a great tips, definitely going to try when I have better camera. Thanks
I’m planning to buy better camera, soon ^^;

amongst all of them, I think Arcueid looks the best~
this collections seems abit pale in comparison to their 1/6 figurines counterparts

Nice. I didnt know gachapon looks this good ^^;

nice background colours- you chose well.
mmmm…… trading figures <=> gashapons? i always call the ones in boxes trading figures, and the capsule ones gashapons. anyone to clarify this?
June 14, 2007 at 9:41 am
@sector6: i think both are called gachapon, but I can be wrong tho ^^;
based on google definition there are 2 definitions for gachapon:
1) capsule toy
2) trading toy

well, gashapon is supposed to be the sound the machine makes when you turn the knob - when the thing inside rotates, all the balls go “gacha-gacha” and it drops into the pickup slot “pon”.
so gachapon is anything you buy out of those machines - insert coin and turn.
trading figures come in boxes, you pick and open =)
gashapon machines are usually cheaper, since the initial machines use the coin to tricker the lock mechanism on the knob that you turn to release a ball. So well, it costs a coin (tho coins can be Y500 ($5)) I’m pretty sure there is standardised gashapon price <-> qual/size kind of table but I don’t remember it nemore since I stopped looking at gashapon, not that it would be very accurate since figure quality is getting more and more unpredictable.
I also feel that trading figures end up being more expensive (with significant difference in quality) because they aren’t restricted by a capsule , them boxes get pretty big sometimes.

i just received mine recently that i bought from a guy through the internet. well, they sure do worth the money that i spent on them. details of them are excellent, their pose are great but i do have a problem though, i dunno where to place them. My room is kinda hot the whole day, therefore i wouldn’t want to place them there. Now they are next to my samsung lcd tv (’ ‘;)
btw, i found this out by accident, that 1 of this figures also has removable skirt. Arcuied’s skirt is also removable and i think u could try it out and include the picture of it.. hehe XD
June 18, 2007 at 1:09 am
eh I just knew that arcueid skirt can be removed ^^; if only she doesn’t wear black pantyhose :p

the group shot is very well done! The composition is nice, and the depth/perspective is very cool!

I have the SolidWorks Gunslinger Girls version of Triela. I actually bought the rest of the set online. What I’m really looking for is the original Toysworks version of Henrietta.
